A play in a baseball game when the fielding team throws out three of the opposing runners.
"I throw the ball to first base. Whoever it is grabs the ball, so the guy runs to second. Who picks up the ball and throws it to What, What throws it to I Don't Know, I Don't Know throws it back to Tomorrow - triple play." --Lou Costello

In baseball: When three outs are made in one inning. There must be at least two base runners and no outs for it to occur. They are very uncommon, but are a great thing to see, especially when you're favorite team gets out of a jam.
Harry Kalas: The score is 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth between the Cardinals and the Phillies with the Phillies leading. The Cardinals have the bases loaded with no one out, so Phillies closer Billy Wagner is in a jam. Pujols steps to the plate. IT'S SMOKED TO THIRD BASE! Bell steps on the bag and throws towards second! Utley makes the throw to first...GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!! THE PHILLIES WIN IT!!!!! IT WILL BE SCORED A 5-4-3 TRIPLE PLAY!!!!!!!!!!
