9.
A non-local snowboarder who has no clue as to what they're doing on the mountain. They stick to the green runs and are found crashing the 3 miles to the bottom.
The bar was empty because all the gapers are on Schoolmarm.

A skier or snowboarder who is not accustomed to the local scene - usually a tourist. They walk around with their mouths all agape, oogling and awe-ing the awesomeness that is "mountain life". They try to ski or ride and can most often be found flailing in beginner areas, going too fast in beginner areas, standing around in the way of everyone else, or trying to really be cool. They are usually most easily recognized by thier blue jeans and ski jackets wide open and usually carry their skiis across their shoulder strait out, parallel to the ground, instead of up and down. They have also been known to do "the helicopter" - making abrupt u-turns while carrying skis as described above. This move usually causes chaos and head injuries to other people in near vacinty.
Dude 1: What happened to your head?

Dude 2: Some stupid Gaper helicoptered his skiis right into my skull when he couldn't figure out how to put a lift ticket on his blue jeans

this is acutally an acronym that stand for Guaranteed Accident Prone on Every Run. Referring for a skier or snowboarder, usually wearing bright 80's ski gear that cannot ski or ride, or a tourist in a mountain town who walks around with their mouth agape in awe of the mountains!
That gaper got out of control and crashed into a tree!

Those gapers are stopping traffic standing in the middle of the street taking a picture.

A true Gaper is one who wears their ski pants and sometimes even jeans tucked into their unbuckled ski boots with their power straps flapping. They always ski down a flat slope as far in the backseat as they can get, sometimes even trying to be as cool as a ski racer and attempting a "tuck." Some even try to be Superman and take off down the run with all they're 80's jackets unzipped. Gapers almost always put the bar down on the chairlift and ask the lifty to slow down the high speed detachable quad. The word "gaper" comes from both the acronym guaranteed accident prone on every run and the famous "gaper gap" between the helmet/hat and the goggles. Gapers somehow manage to have yardsales on the flattest bunny slopes. A yardsale is when the skier crashes and all their gear goes flying, landing scattered across the run. Gapers always stop in blind spots on runs, just below knolls and jumps. It seems that everything they do to try and be cooler makes them look even more stupid.
"God I hate goggle tans but you know what's even worse? A gaper gap tan."

"Hey watch out for that gaper!"

"You would think they would have a brain freeze by now you know with that massive gaper gap and his jacket's even unzipped!"

Gapers are clueless, experienced skiers or snowboarders. They spend most of their time either A) Straight lining every course (they'll fall almost every time) or B) Bragging about how they straight lined a course, even though they looked like a complete idiot doing it. They are known for their large gap between their goggles and hat/helmet. Other signs of gapers include: Cutting in front of other skiers and snowboarders (possibly causing crashes), gaper tucks, rental gear, yard sales, and any other form of trying to copy a racer.
Gaper: "Dude, did you see me speed down that run? The only reason I fell was 'cause I caught my edge on an ice patch."

Skier: "Yeah, I did see you, your such a gaper!"

G.A.P.E.R is an acronym for a skier or snowboarder that stands for: Guaranteed Accident Prone on Every Run. They can be spotted at the landing of jumps just out of view for those dropping, cutting people off on runs, running into people, falling off lifts, and generally making a fool of themselves. They are usually dressed in 80's ski gear or brand new gear that they spent way to much money on and have the trademark gaper gap between the goggles and hat and many times the pants are tucked into the boots.
Dude I just got snaked by that gaper

I almost landed right on that gaper in the landing of that jump
