Any content or material that is deemed not appropriate for work. Not safe for work.
Dan Quintero is the epitome of NSFW.

1) Not Safe/Suitable For Work. An acronym that could get you fired if your boss sees or a co-worker snitches you out for browsing inappropriate material on the internet, especially if it's nudity.
2) Nude/Nudity Shots/Scenes Fucking Win. A made up acronym I personally thought it stood for when viewing ecchi and sexy hentai photos on Twitter. Although I was wrong I still think this acronym fits better.
1) Billy got fired from the office because Kevin snitched him out for googling nudity pics on the company's PC. Moral of this incident: Don't view material that is nsfw.
2) These pics of Yamato make me gap 24/7. Her nsfw.

NSFW is an acronym for words like "Not Safe For Work" and "Not For Showing Wife"

Basically it is also a category of some things that is to be shared that is often inappropriate and contains mature content.
Bob: Hey bro, what does NSFW stand for?
Billy: It stands for "Not For Showing Wife".
Bob: Does that mean porn?
Billy: I guess you could say that...

Short for Not Safe For Work. Warning for people who just skive at work and just play around on the Internet on someone else's computer and time. If you do that you deserve to be caught looking at porn at work.
"Don't go on Tumblr , it's NSFW."

"Unlike you I actually do my job at work and don't slack off wasting the company's time."

Not Safe For Work. Used to describe Internet content generally inappropriate for the typical workplace, i.e., would not be acceptable in the presence of your boss and colleagues (as opposed to SFW, Safe For Work).

basically... porn

Usually raunchy humor or college strip based humor that will get you ruined in the train of thought.
NSFW? You showed me some porno that was enjoyable and called it NSFW? It is commonly misused in IRC.
